Select Surfaces Laminate at Sam’s Club: Finding Leftovers

Select Surfaces is the laminate flooring brand sold at Sam’s Club, and its colors rotate in and out of clubs much like other warehouse-club flooring. When a color stops showing up, the most reliable way to find matching Select Surfaces laminate is to read the model number off a leftover carton, then search by that model string and the exact color name rather than by “Sam’s Club laminate.”

What Select Surfaces laminate is

Sam’s Club lists Select Surfaces as a click-together laminate with a pre-attached foam backer and a SpeedLoc locking system. Product pages describe several collections. The SpillDefense collection is marketed as water resistant for up to 24 hours, the Elite collection includes hand-scraped looks such as Praline, and the Gallery Series covers colors like Fitzgerald, Colorado, Prescott, Seaside and Adeline. The Praline listing states the flooring is made in Germany.

Most listings give a total thickness of 14 mm, which includes a 2 mm attached foam pad. That detail matters when you match a floor, because a 12 mm plank without a pad, or a plank with a cork backer, will not sit flush against an existing Select Surfaces row.

Source: Sam’s Club product pages. At the time of writing, the Heritage Oak, Rustic Gray and Praline pages showed no price and no stock for pickup or shipping, which is usually the first sign that a club color is being phased out. Carton sizes also vary by color (Pearl Gray lists 16.45 sq ft per box, Victoria 17.49 sq ft, Spencer 14.39 sq ft), so the square footage on your carton is another useful clue.

How to identify the floor you have

Start with a leftover box if one survived the install. The model string (the SCLMF number) and the color name are the two facts that matter most. If the box is gone, pull a plank from a closet or under an appliance and measure the total thickness with the pad, the width and the length. Note whether the face has a hand-scraped texture or a flatter embossed grain, and whether the edges are beveled. Photograph the back as well, since the attached pad and any printed codes help narrow the search.

Be careful with color names. Heritage Oak, Barnwood and similar names are used by several brands, so a “Heritage Oak” listing on a resale site may come from a different maker entirely. Our guide on telling apart same-name colors from different brands covers this in more detail.

Where leftover Select Surfaces boxes turn up

Warehouse-club flooring sells in large lots, and many buyers end up with one to three spare cartons. Those boxes tend to appear in a few places:

  • Local resale listings and community marketplace posts, searched by color name plus “Select Surfaces.”
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations, which often take unopened flooring cartons from remodels.
  • Flooring liquidators and online auction sites, where the model string in the title is the best filter.
  • Your own club, since a few boxes sometimes stay in a store after the online listing goes dark.

You can also post what you need, with the model number and a photo of the carton end, on the FlooringFX Match board. Posting is free for a limited time · normally $10, and other homeowners with spare boxes can reply. A match isn’t guaranteed, but specific listings get better responses. For other warehouse-club and big-box lines, the discontinued flooring index lists colors and model strings by brand, and the Costco side is covered in who makes Harmonics flooring.

When no exact match exists

If the color can’t be found, the usual fallback is to use a close substitute in a separate room or behind a doorway transition, rather than mixing planks within one field. Planks from the closet or a low-traffic room can also be moved to a damaged high-traffic spot, with the substitute going where it shows least. Because Select Surfaces planks carry their own pad, any replacement needs the same total height or a transition strip at the seam.

FAQ

Who sells Select Surfaces laminate flooring?

Select Surfaces is sold through Sam’s Club, both in clubs and online, depending on the color.

Is Select Surfaces laminate waterproof?

The SpillDefense collection is described as water resistant for up to 24 hours of standing spills. It is still laminate, so long-term water exposure can damage it.

Can I mix Select Surfaces with another 14 mm laminate?

Only if the locking profile, pad and texture line up. In practice, a different brand is easier to use in a separate room than within the same floor.
