Patterns from FlooringFX public Match listings · last updated 2026-10-28
How to write a Match listing that gets replies. FlooringFX Match is a NEED vs HAVE board for leftover discontinued flooring. Clear carton IDs, a real quantity, and a photo beat vague color words. This page restates public patterns already visible on the site. It is not a guarantee of a match.
Know the brand strip and model? Post a NEED or HAVE — carton photos welcome.

NEED vs HAVE
NEED leftover boxes
You are short on cartons for a repair or unfinished room. Post the brand, pattern/color, model or Internet/SKU/UPC from the carton end, how many boxes you still need, and your area or ZIP. Repair asks on FlooringFX usually sit in the 1–5 box band — see how many leftover boxes most repairs need.
HAVE leftover boxes
You have unopened (or clearly described) cartons you want gone. Post the same ID fields, the exact carton count, dye-lot or batch marks if printed, whether you can ship or prefer local pickup, and photos of the carton end plus a plank face.
When to post which: Choose NEED if you are hunting leftovers. Choose HAVE if you are the one with stock. Do not invent a HAVE to “seed” the board. FlooringFX only publishes form submissions that people actually send.
Listing checklist
| Field | What to put | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Brand strip | Exact house brand on the carton (TrafficMaster, LifeProof, Harmonics, Style Selections, Pergo, and so on) | Same color words appear under different retailers; brand is the first filter |
| Pattern / color | Full name as printed (e.g. Dimensions African Chestnut), not just “oak” | Color names collide across lines — see name collisions |
| Model / SKU / Internet / UPC | Copy every readable code from the carton end | Model strings beat color names; use the carton label decoder |
| Quantity | Whole boxes (usually 1–5 for repairs) | Matches public NEED examples on closed listings 294 (3 boxes) and 295 (1–2 boxes); citeable range on the repair box counts page |
| Area / ZIP | City or ZIP for local pickup preference | Commenters decide ship vs drive before they reply |
| Photos | Carton end (brand strip + codes) and one plank face | Lets a HAVE confirm dye lot and locking style without guessing |
Why the model string beats a color name alone
“Oak leftovers” can mean Home Depot TrafficMaster, Costco Harmonics, Lowe’s Style Selections, LifeProof vinyl, or something else entirely. Posters who paste the model, Internet number, SKU, or UPC from the carton get clearer replies because those codes map to one product line.
- Name collisions — same everyday color words, different brands
- Carton label decoder — how to read brand strip, Internet #, SKU, UPC
- Discontinued TrafficMaster colors — laminate and Allure ID rows
- Discontinued LifeProof colors — I-code gate
- Lowe’s Style Selections — house-brand model habit
- Costco Harmonics hub — short codes like AH404S, VC403S
Dye lots matter when you mix leftovers. Shade can drift between production runs of the same color name. Prefer cartons from the same batch when several boxes are available, and photograph any lot or batch mark on the end label. Details: dye lots and batch codes.
How connect works (no broker)
FlooringFX publishes your listing and emails you when someone comments. You reply on the thread. Email used for comment alerts stays private. You may optionally show a public phone or email on the listing. FlooringFX does not broker messages, hold money, or guarantee a match. Listings typically run about 30 days. Browse open and closed examples on the Match board; closed SUCCESS posts are kept as proof of the comment-connect model, not as a promise that every post will close.
Other places people look (clearance aisles, warehouse clubs, marketplaces) are compared on leftover search channels. Match is the peer board when the store shelf is already empty.
Closed examples (SUCCESS proof, not a promise)
These paraphrases use only fields already public on the closed listings:
Listing 294 — NEED, closed SUCCESS. TrafficMaster Dimensions African Chestnut Uniclic, model 8436004228287 / 281-454, 3 boxes, area 76248. Closed after replies on the listing comments. FlooringFX did not broker. Read listing 294.
Listing 295 — NEED, closed SUCCESS. TrafficMaster Oak (poster text: original Hamilton Oak, SKU #147 115), 1–2 boxes. Closed after replies on the listing comments. Kept on the board as Match proof. Read listing 295.
Both sit inside the usual 1–5 box repair band documented on the how many boxes page. Your post may or may not get a reply; clear IDs improve the odds that the right person can recognize stock.
What not to do
- Vague titles like “oak leftovers” with no brand strip or model
- No photos of the carton end or plank
- No quantity (“a few boxes” instead of 2 or 3)
- Wrong brand family (posting Harmonics leftovers under TrafficMaster, or mixing LifeProof I-codes with HD laminate UPCs)
- Skipping dye-lot marks when several cartons of the “same” color are available
- Expecting FlooringFX staff to negotiate shipping or payment
FAQ
Is posting free right now?
Yes — free for a limited time · normally $10. One listing, no subscription. The $10 price may return later.
Will FlooringFX find boxes for me?
No. The board shows your NEED or HAVE; commenters reply; you connect. Closed SUCCESS listings are public proof that the comment model can work, not a service-level promise.
Where should I start if I only have a color name?
Photograph the carton end, run it through the decoder, then check collisions and the brand hub that matches the strip. Post once you have at least brand + one model-style code + quantity.
Ready to post? Skim the board first, then submit a NEED or HAVE.
