Harmonics is a Costco warehouse-club laminate brand strip (Mohawk-associated on FlooringFX Pattern Guides and hub 342; FAQ: Who makes Harmonics flooring for Costco?). TrafficMaster is a Home Depot private-label / big-box strip covering laminate rows (and separate Allure vinyl families). Leftover boxes get confused because oak, hickory, maple, and pecan color words reuse across both channels. Color names alone are not enough: the carton brand strip must match, and the floors do not lock into each other.
This page is a citeable channel comparison using only facts already published on FlooringFX hubs. It does not invent wear mils, plank specs, SKUs, or manufacturer ownership beyond what those hubs already state. Comparison at a glance
| Axis | Harmonics | TrafficMaster (laminate) |
|---|---|---|
| Channel | Costco warehouse club | Home Depot big-box |
| Brand strip on carton | Harmonics (related Home Design cartons also appear in Costco archives — treat as separate unless the label says otherwise) | TrafficMaster (Allure / Allure Ultra are vinyl under the same private-label family, not laminate) |
| Manufacturer association (FlooringFX wording only) | Mohawk-associated warehouse-club laminate; Costco-purchased Harmonics / Mohawk Home support still routes through the brand’s Costco inquiry channel (does not restock depleted colors) | Associated with Shaw Industries on many carton eras; older ends may show Homer TLC marks — confirm the carton end; do not assume interchangeability across eras |
| Example model strings (cite existing Guides) | AH404S Antique Hickory · RM203S Royal Mahogany · VC403S Vintage Chestnut |
HL704 Baytown Oak · 34089 Saratoga Hickory · 35947 Lakeshore Pecan |
| Locking note | Many Harmonics runs used Uniclic (stated on Pattern Guides / locking hub); confirm on a spare plank | Do not assume one locking system for every TM laminate row. Named Uniclic appears on documented Dimensions African Chestnut Match SUCCESS; other laminate rows need the carton / Guide check |
| Match tip | Photograph Costco / Harmonics carton strip (brand, color name, any printed model or item number) before posting NEED or HAVE | Photograph TrafficMaster brand strip + model / Internet / store SKU / UPC when printed; decoder Example D walks a Baytown-style HD laminate layout |
No thickness, wear-layer, or plank-size numbers are invented here. Copy measurements from your carton end or from a citeable Guide that already documents them.
Same color name ≠ same floor. Oak / hickory / maple / pecan words reuse across warehouse-club and Home Depot strips. FlooringFX’s name-collisions hub treats brand strip + model as the hard filter — not marketing words alone. See flooring name collisions. Hub 342 also states plainly: Harmonics is not TrafficMaster and does not lock into Home Depot LifeProof or Pergo XP.
How to tell them apart on the carton
- Read the brand strip first: Harmonics (Costco-era) vs TrafficMaster (Home Depot). Color words alone fail this gate.
- Copy any printed model / item / UPC as plain text. Harmonics examples already on-site include
AH404S,RM203S,VC403S. TrafficMaster laminate examples includeHL704,34089,35947. - Note maker marks when present: decoder and hubs treat Mohawk-associated Harmonics / Costco inquiry context separately from Shaw / Homer TLC clues on many TrafficMaster laminate eras. Confirm on your end label.
- Check locking on a spare plank when a locking word is printed (for example Uniclic on many Harmonics runs and on named TM Dimensions African Chestnut). Do not force-fit unlike profiles.
- Photograph the full carton end in daylight before buying leftovers or posting a Match listing. Field map: carton-end label decoder (Example C = Costco Harmonics Antique Hickory; Example D = TrafficMaster Baytown Oak). Shot list: photograph the carton for Match.
