The run number is a date

LifeProof is Home Depot’s house brand for rigid-core vinyl plank, supplied by Halstead. Its install guides say exactly where the batch information lives, which makes it the easiest brand on this site to decode.

“Locate the run number on the short end of each carton and verify that all of the material for your job is from the same run… The run number is the eight-digit number separated by decimal points beginning with the two-digit day, then the two-digit month, and finally the four-digit year.”

LifeProof plank and tile install guide (Halstead), with the example Run Number 10.05.2017

“When installing flooring from two or more cartons, check the pattern, color and batch numbers on the carton to ensure they are all the same. This information is listed on the exterior label of each carton.”

Same name, different wear layer

LifeProof reuses color names across wear layers. Models ending in LP are usually the thicker 22 mil versions: Fresh Oak is I96711L at 6 mil and I96711LP at 22 mil. See Fresh Oak I96711L vs I96711LP and LifeProof vs TrafficMaster thickness.

Readers have also asked for these LifeProof colors without giving a model string: Harrington Acacia, Buckhorn Gray Oak, Henlopen Gray Oak, Autumn Harvest Grey Oak, Cooke Maple. If you have one of these boxes, the model string on the carton end would help them.

How to read it, step by step

  1. Turn the box to a short end
Halstead’s guide says the run number is on the short end of each carton.
  2. Read the run number as a date
It is eight digits with dots: day, month, year. 10.05.2017 means 10 May 2017.
  3. Copy the model and mil
Write the model string (I114813L) and the wear layer (6 MIL or 22 MIL). Same color names exist at both.
  4. Check every box
Make sure all boxes for one room show the same pattern, color and run, then blend planks from three cartons.

Questions about LifeProof cartons

Where is the run number on a LifeProof box?

On the short end of each carton, as an eight-digit number with dots that reads day.month.year.

A listing says 100224167. Is that Seasoned Wood?

Very likely. It is the first nine digits of the Seasoned Wood store SKU, 1002241674. The model string I114813L is the safer number to post.

Can I mix 6 mil and 22 mil planks?

They are different products. Fresh Oak, for example, is I96711L at 6 mil and I96711LP at 22 mil. Check the mil on the label before you buy.
