Laminate Flooring Care and CleaningPergo Preferred Brazilwood Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring was made for wear and tear of families. Laminate Flooring requires virtually no maintenance and cleaning up spills couldn’t be easier. Caring for laminate flooring is much less time consuming and labor intensive compared to other flooring types because of the material you are working with. Cleaning is usually a breeze and generally does not require the expensive cleaning products to get the job done.

Here are some points to keep in mind to ensure your laminate floor stays in top condition for years to come:

* For major cleaning jobs, mop with ammonia or a mixture of vinegar and water.
* Don’t use conventional soap-based cleaners. If possible, look for citrus-based cleaners.
* Never use scouring powder, steel wool or wax strippers on a laminate floor.
* Never wax, sand or apply lacquer to a laminate floor surface.
* If you’re unsure of using any product on your laminate floor, test it in an inconspicuous area first - such as underneath your stove or fridge.

I purchased Trafficmaster laminate wood flooring, and recently installed it in my kitchen. I thought the Wet Jet Swiffer would work, but it left a dull smearing on my floors….. I also have a large dog, and 3 cats, my floor is a mess!!! Any ideas on something to mop with that won’t hurt the animals? And something to remove the black scratch marks left by the dogs nails? thanks for any help!

My older dog continually urintes on my laminate floor. It seems to clean up alright, I am just concerned if the ‘buckling’ caused by this will worsen over time. Right now, it is not too noticable. I use vinager and water. Lately, it has been quite sticky, I suppose, due to the urin. Any tips?

Hi, I know you can use vinegar or ammonia with water. Don’t use swiffer too much soap. Nail polish remover

can help with the really bad black marks, BUT USE A TENNIS BALL TO BUFF OUT THE DOGGY NAIL MARKS! you need some elbow

grease into it. Your floor may look badly because you’ve used soap based cleaners - use the vinegar or ammonia with water

a couple times over to remove the film - it is probably attracting the dirt. good luck!
