Thomasville Engineered Hardwood FlooringLast week I installed an engineered wood in my own home. I put the Thomasville Engineered Hardwood. I love this stuff, the warranty is good, and it has a great look.

Often readers of this flooring site ask me what I put, so here you go. I love this Thomasville Engineered hardwood. I picked the walnut because the dark color has amazing eye-catching beauty.

I too installed a Thomasville engineered hardwood floor (walnut), with not such good results. Every tenth or so time the installer nailed down a board, the finish would chip off of the board behind it. They sent an inspector who called it a manufacturers defect. I waiting to see if they will rip out what has been installed already, or if I have to do that.

WE installed the walnut Thomasville Hardwood Flooring about 2 months ago and yes it is beautiful but it is a nightmare to keep clean. Any tips? We clean it deeply about once a week and that still isn’t enough. Love the floor but it isn’t realistic in the main areas of a home. (I.E. living room, kitchen, entry way, etc.)

I agree with you kim. We installed 1200 sq ft of Thomasville Walnut engineered hardwood flooring a year ago, and it has been a thorn in our side ever since. The Walnut finish is beautiful, but will not stay clean. We don’t even have any children. They smear, footprints and shoeprints show. Bona Hardwood Floor spray cleaner (recommended by Thomasville) seems to work best, but still requires cleaning twice a week (daily, if my husband is in his OCD mood). The kitchen (for obvious reasons) is the worst room, so we will eventually end up installing tile.

I wish there was a way to put a protective coat of high gloss polyurethane on the floors, but based on the little research I’ve done, it doesn’t appear so. Does anyone know anything different or have other suggestions.

    Thanks.
